About Us

History

In 1960, Greg Shaw opened the doors of a new business in Garden City, Kansas. Offering closeout and bankrupt merchandise, Shaw sold everything from saddles to scissors. He knew that he had to come up with a name that would encompass the variety of products he offered. Thus, the Crazy House was born.

During the sixties, the cattle industry boomed in Western Kansas and especially in Garden City. Shaw soon realized that there was a large market for work and western wear. The Crazy House evolved into a store that catered to ranchers, farmers, and the working feedlot cowboy.

Over the last 40 years, Greg’s son, Brian Shaw, has ran the Crazy House and continues to meet the demands and needs of his customers, while still maintaining his father’s vision of offering high quality merchandise at the lowest prices.

The Crazy House continues to be a small-town, family-owned business. We have remained in Garden City, but have now relocated the building two times. The business continues to expand its merchandise and customer base. Many of our customers come from all over the Midwest. Taylor Shaw is now walking in his grandfather’s and father’s boots as the third generation of the Shaw family to offer the best service and products to Crazy House customers.
